Program · Medical Debt Relief

When the bill is the only thing between a patient and their family.

We settle hospital bills for patients detained in African medical facilities after treatment so they can return home to their families.

A healthcare worker speaks with a patient in a clinic setting.

Across Africa, too many patients remain detained in hospitals long after treatment because they cannot afford their medical bills. Some wait days. Some wait weeks. Some wait months. All of them have families waiting for them to come home.

How a case reaches us

Cases are referred by social workers, hospital chaplains, community partners, and family members. Our intake team verifies the patient's identity, the facility, the outstanding balance, and the medical necessity of the original treatment.

How we verify the bill

We work directly with the billing office to obtain itemized statements. We confirm the bill with the facility, verify the patient has been medically discharged, and document the release terms before any payment is made.

How the payment moves

Funds are sent directly to the medical facility, never to the patient or family, accompanied by a written confirmation of discharge terms. Patients are reunited with their families the same day in most cases.

What we don't do

We do not pay unverified bills, elective procedures, or expenses outside our mission. Every case is reviewed carefully so donor funds go toward restoring freedom, care, and dignity.

Your gift restores dignity today.

Every dollar moves someone closer to their family, their freedom, and the care they were denied.
